Ease into the new year

An alternative start to the new year, new co-writing dates and a reminder...

Ease into the new year

Hello there...

I hope these past couple of weeks have treated you gently and you have been able to get a moment of stillness and peace.

This time of year can be a really tricky one and I have been leaning into the in-between bits and quieter times, snatching moments to read (Orbital... oh my goodness) and spending days in the company of my wild ones on the beach... It has been a real tonic, one that I am hugely grateful for.

I'm looking forward to starting slowly in this new year, spending more time in the company of others and making more space and time for words. As I dip my toes slowly back into work and begin to put away the decorations and tidy the house, I wanted to share news of some upcoming workshops and new co-writing dates… And also send a little reminder that applications for The Nest Residency 2025 close next week.

Here's to a gentle and tender start to this new year.

Thank you so much for reading.

Ease into the new year

Thursday 9th January | 19:00 – 20:30 UK time | Online

As an alternative start to the year, join me for an evening of intention and attention setting to help you ease your way into the year. This gentle and encouraging session will provide a space to reflect on what has passed, let go of that which no longer serves you and will give you the space to explore how you want to be in the present and moving forward into the new year.

All are welcome!

Bring a notebook and your drink of choice.

A recording and resources will be sent to all participants after the workshop.

Pay what you can (suggested price of £14 but you can adjust according to your means)

The Nest Residency

Last year, I launched The Nest Residency, the opportunity to experience a Solo Retreat for just £50 on selected dates. Applications close at 9AM on Tuesday 7th January.

From my own experience, I know how difficult it can be to make the time, space and financial commitment that it takes to write and it has always been my intention to make the Solo Writing Retreats accessible and inclusive.

I am acutely aware that there are so many barriers to creative opportunities for writing, especially for women. So, I want to help others and open up the space to those who would otherwise be unable to access it. In the future, I really hope to offer fully funded places. Whilst I work on making this a reality, The Nest Residency is the opportunity to apply for a subsidised spot to experience a two night retreat for just £50 on selected dates.

You can find out more about the space and see what it looks like here.

The residency is open to anyone who would otherwise be unable to access or afford a retreat. To be eligible, you must reside in the UK and have not yet had any writing published by a professional publishing company (if you have self-published you can still apply).

Deadline

Applications will close at 9AM on Tuesday 7th January and successful applicants will be informed by 13th January, with the choice of attending a residency on either:

Tuesday 4th – Thursday 6th March 2025

OR

Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th March 2025

When applying, please specfic which is your preferred date.

The residency details

The residency is the opportunity to experience a two night retreat for just £50.

Please note, you will need to cover the cost of travel to and from the retreat and the retreat is self-catered (there are some kitchen basics and some welcome snacks but meals will not be provided).

New co-writing dates

Join me in the new year for some free online co-writing sessions!

What to expect

The sessions will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes with a moment to pause and ground ourselves at the beginning and time at the end to have a little catch up (should you wish).

You don’t have to talk, you don’t have to bring anything specific to work on (I'll share a prompt in the chat), you don’t have to have your camera on, the whole idea is just showing up and spending some time with your words in the company of others.

These sessions will be free and will take place at the following times and dates on zoom using the links below:

Monday 13th January | 13:00 - 14:15 UK time

Wednesday 15th January | 9:15 - 10:30 UK time

Monday 20th January | 13:00 - 14:15 UK time

Wednesday 22nd January | 9:15 - 10:30 UK time

Wednesday 29th January | 9:15 - 10:30 UK time

Monday 3rd February | 13:00 - 14:15 UK time

Wednesday 5th February | 9:15 - 10:30 UK time

Please email me if you want a little nudge to remember on the day and I can send you a reminder.
